About Us

ShuBrew is a family owned microbrewey based in Harmony, Pennsylvania. ShuBrew first opened as a brewpub in downtown Zelienople, PA in September 2013, then expanded to the Harmony location in 2016. The original Zelienople location is still open for lunch and dinner year round and the brewery has a taproom with limited hours.

The name ShuBrew is a play on the Shumaker last name and the majority of our beers are named after footwear or something foot related. We are a fun, sarcastic family that attempt to find humor in most things including but not limited to; our beer names, logos, decor, merchandise and menu. Upon entering our establishment, you will notice pictures adorning the wall of our beer logos drawn by local artist Benny Miller who teaches Art Education at Brentwood High School.

Owners, Zachary and Erika Shumaker, were both born and raised in the greater Pittsburgh area. After graduation Zach spent two years at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania before taking a hiatus to serve in the Marine Corps. He spent four years in San Diego California working in a helicopter squadron. During that timeframe he fell in love with craft beer and decided to get a part time job at Stone Brewing Company. He returned home in February 2008 and immediately knew it was his purpose in life to bring a west-coast ale type experience to western Pennsylvania. The couple met in Fall 2008 during orientation at their place of employment. The following Spring they began dating and Zach introduced Erika to the world of craft brewing. He asked if she would be interested in taking a vacation to Delaware with him; Delaware you say? Yes, Zach asked Erika to be his companion on a trip to visit Dogfish Head’s brewery in the nation’s second smallest state. That same summer they took a trip to San Diego to visit Stone Brewing Company during their 13th anniversary celebration. The two have been vacationing to craft beer events together ever since. They were married in July of 2011, and made the decision to open a brew pub the following year.

The old school charm of Zelienople was definitely a factor in choosing ShuBrew’s location and are happy to have become a part of the Zelienople and Harmony community.

Cheers!
