About Us

Jeremy Engle combines a decade of “big law” litigation and government investigation experience in Washington DC, time as an Honors Attorney at the United States Department of Justice, and years in the hospitality industry to represent clients for their most important problems. Jeremy is committed to providing “big law” quality representation with the efficiency, nimbleness, and personal qualities of a boutique firm.

Jeremy has a broad litigation practice with an emphasis on complex business disputes in federal and state courts and government investigation and enforcement actions. He has successfully represented clients in matters involving fraud claims, breach of contract, copyright infringement, S.E.C. investigations and enforcement actions, government contract suspensions, and malpractice claims. Jeremy has represented a wide array of clients, including telecommunication providers, music publishers and copyright holders, hotel owners, insurance companies, investment advisors, oil companies, and media providers, as well as individuals.

Prior to joining Marcus & Shapira in 2017, Jeremy was an attorney for ten years at Steptoe & Johnson LLP in Washington, DC, a large international law firm, where he represented clients in commercial litigation, government investigations and enforcement actions, and contract disputes. Prior to entering private practice, Jeremy was a federal prosecutor with the United States Department of Justice in the tax division.

In his pro bono practice, Jeremy represented a client in post-conviction relief after the client was sentenced to Delaware’s death row. Jeremy successfully argued to the Delaware Supreme Court that his client’s conviction should be overturned and subsequently negotiated an agreement with the prosecutors that resulted in the almost immediate release of his client from Delaware prison.

Jeremy graduated from Washington & Lee School of Law in 2006, where he was an editor on the Law Review. He earned a B.S. Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management in 1999 and studied Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at the University of Colorado at Boulder from 2001-2002. Jeremy spent several years in hospitality management prior to attending law school.

Jeremy is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Virginia, the Tenth Circuit, the Fourth Circuit, the District Court for the District of Columbia, and the District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
